Centre for Family Research Activities for the Family Weekend at The Cambridge Festival 2024

We are getting excited for this year's Cambridge Festival Family Weekend, and we have lots of activities planned for you! We are holding our events jointly with the Department of Psychology. 

 

Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th March, 2024

 

Saturday Multi-Activity, Family Fun Day!

What we'll be doing

At this Multi-activity, family fun session, you can test out the games we use in our research with children and families. Activities will include a tablet-based Memory (hide and seek) game; paper-based games such as colouring-in and a Quiz based on our research, and you can even try on our neuro-imaging headgear and see your own brain activity!

Sunday Quiet Zone

What we'll be doing

Join us at the Department of Psychology, as we kick off the Sunday with a quiet hour. Come and colour in pictures that illustrate our research themes, design your own optical illusion, or have a go at solving one of our word searches or other puzzles. Why not create some graffiti for our virtual Wellbeing Wall? You’ll get see your design go live on our Wellbeing Wall, via our website and socials, after the event.

Sunday KAPLA Workshop

KAPLA workshops are a wonderful way for children to discover their creativity and building skills. Join us in one of our workshops, facilitated by Jennifer Norie of KAPLA UK, to have a go for yourselves. 

While you’re here, why not also have a go at laptop-based games, ‘Feed the Fish’ and ‘Online Etcha-Sketch'? Researchers will be on hand to assist, and to explain how children’s thinking skills both enhance and are enhanced by play with their parents. See https://kaplaclubs.co.uk/)
