Centre for Family Research

Parents/Child:

As a thank you for taking part in our study, families will also receive a multi-outlet voucher after the 2nd session. In addition, each child will receive a small gift after each Zoom session and the opportunity to take part in an art competition. For children who take part in the school-based peer play session a copy of the video will be sent to parents as a small thank you.

Every two months from March 2021 to January 2023, we will be holding workshop events for participating schools in which experts in child psychology and education will give brief (15-minute talks) on topics of interest to early years teachers. We will upload the video recordings of these 15-minute talks on our website and make them available to all our study families. Find the recordings here.

By the end of the study we will produce an illustrated e-book about the emotional highs and lows of a young child’s day at school, which we will share with all our study families.

Schools:

As a participating school you will have free access to a series of 12 virtual CPD events to inform and stimulate discussion covering a range of topics to support teachers, such as home-school communication, friendships in the classroom, outdoor play, development of social and cognitive skills. The talks in these events will be recorded and made available to both teachers and parents via our study website, along with an accessible summary for each talk. For details please see the following information sheet and for access to the CPD event recordings click here.

To recognise your expertise and knowledge of the children you teach we will send you a £14 voucher for completing questionnaires for 4 children and an additional £3 for each additional child (maximum of 10 children £32). If we can recruit 10 families from a school, the Reception teacher will receive a £50 voucher to spend on resources for the classroom. A Mobilio set will be gifted to each school (to be used initially in the peer play session).
