Centre for Family Research Historical Conversations and Documents

In this section of the Centre for Family Research archive there are transcripts of conversations with people who have worked in the Centre in the past, as well as other documents detailing the Centre's history.

The Centre began its life in 1966 as the Unit for Research on Medical Applications of Psychology under the directorship of Martin Richards. It was then the Child Care and Development Group before becoming the Centre for Family Research in 1992. Following Martin Richards’ retirement, Susan Golombok became Director of the Centre in 2006.
